Orlando, Fla. – For the fourth straight year, the Fordham women's tennis squad advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship. Unfortunately for the 2025 Rams that was where their season ended as Fordham fell to VCU 4-2 today at the USTA National Campus on Friday.
Fordham opened the match winning the doubles point, taking both completed doubles matches.
Lorraine Bergmann and
Lily Chitambar opened the match with a 6-1 win over VCU's Lea Malazdra and Sofia Jane Thorne at the second doubles before
Paola Ueno Dalmonico and
Catalina Padilla Udaeta clinched the point for the Rams with a 6-4 win over Andrea Magallanes/Yelizaveta Karlova at the third position.
Nevena Kolarevic put the Rams up 2-0 with a straight set win over VCU's Sofia Jane Thorne at first singles, 6-0, 6-2, before Sara Alba got VCU on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Fordham's
Catalina Padilla Udaeta at sixth singles.
VCU then picked up wins at fifth, second, and third singles to clinch the 4-2 win and advance to the championship match on Sunday.
