Baseball Completes Sweep of St. Bonaventure

Tommy McAndrews’ Two-Run Home Run Sparks Rams to 7-5 Win

Bronx, N.Y. – (April 19, 2025) – Fordham's Tommy McAndrews hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth, while Robbie Stewart tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, as the Rams completed a three-game sweep of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies with a 7-5 win at Houlihan Park on Saturday.

Fordham (19-21, 10-8 A10) opened the scoring in the second inning, as the Rams loaded the bases and got a sacrifice fly by Tommy Markey.

St. Bonaventure answered with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to build a 4-1 lead.  In the fourth, Ryan Davis recorded an RBI-double with Jayce Tharnish having an RBI-single, while the fifth inning saw a two-run inside-the-park home run by Harrison Kaufman, his sixth home run of the season.

The Rams clawed back with two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of two St. Bonaventure errors in the inning.  Daniel Bucciero plated one run with a fielder's choice with the other run coming home on an RBI-single by Andrew Kanellis.

Fordham then got the big blast in the sixth to go up, 5-4.  After a walk to Madden Ocko, Tommy McAndrews crushed a two-run home run to left center, his fourth of the season.  The Rams then tacked on two more runs in the seventh on a two-run single by Matt Dieguez for a 7-4 edge.

St. Bonaventure got one run back in the ninth, as Koen Smith was able to finish off the game, recording his first save of the year.  Robbie Stewart (3-2) earned the win, pitching 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits.  Starter Chase Hanawalt went the first 4.2 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.

At the plate, Kanellis was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while McAndrews and Dieguez each drove in two runs.  Taylor Kirk went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base, extending his hit streak to 19 games.

The Rams are next in action on Tuesday, April 22nd, as they head to Fairfield for a 3:30 PM game.
