Baseball Takes Down St. Bonaventure in Series Opener

Fordham’s Anthony Grabau Connects on Grand Slam Home Run

Bronx, N.Y. – (April 17, 2025) – Behind six strong innings from starting pitcher Aidan Dowd and a grand slam home run by Anthony Grabau, the Fordham Rams opened its three-game Atlantic 10 series with an 11-4 win over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at Houlihan Park on Thursday.

After St. Bonaventure took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Fordham answered with a three-run fourth inning, taking advantage of two Bonnies' errors.

The Rams added to the lead in the fifth, scoring four times for a 7-2 edge.  After a one-out single by Cian Sahler, Daniel Bucciero connected on an RBI-double to left center.  Andrew Kanellis followed with an RBI-single down the left field line to make it, 5-2.  Kanellis scored on a wild pitch, while Matt Dieguez, who reached on a walk, scored on a stolen base later in the inning.

Fordham then pushed the lead to 11-2 in the sixth inning, when Anthony Grabau hit a grand slam home run to right for his fourth round-tripper of the year.

The Bonnies would score single runs in the seventh and ninth innings for the 11-4 final score.

Aidan Dowd (3-3) pitched well for the Rams, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings with five strikeouts for the win.  Kanellis finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Taylor Kirk and Tommy McAndrews each had multi-hit games.

Game two of the series is set for 11:00 AM on Friday.
