BRONX, N.Y. (March 7, 2025) – The Fordham men's basketball team will play its final contest of the regular season on Saturday when it heads to Rhode Island for a 2 p.m. tilt with the Rams.

The game will air live on ESPN+ with Mark Radigan and Chris DeSisto on the call.  An audio broadcast of the game with Nick Guzman and Chaz McAdams can be found on the WFUV Sports YouTube page.

In its last game before the start of the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship, the Rams will look to snap a losing streak that extended to seven games with an 81-58 defeat at the hands of George Washington on Wednesday night in the Rose Hill Gym.

Playing his final game at the Rose Hill Gym, graduate student Abdou Tsimbila recorded his first double-double of the campaign, matching a season-high 12 rebounds and scoring 10 points.  The 6-foot-9 forward also rejected two shots, improving his four-year Fordham total to 201 and becoming just the fourth Ram in program history to eclipse the 200-block mark.

Jackie Johnson III scored a game-high 19 points against the Revolutionaries.  The senior from Wichita, Kan., connected on three 3-pointers, bumping his total to 79 and tying Jason Harris (2000-01) for fifth on the program's single-season record list.  On the year, Johnson has attempted 234 3-pointers, four away from tying Harris for second on the single-season list.  The school record of 246 attempts was set by Andre McClendon in 1989-90.

Johnson enters the weekend averaging 18.6 points per game, good for second in the Atlantic 10.  The last Fordham player to average more than 18.6 points over the course of a season was Joe Paterno, the program's fourth leading scorer all-time, who posted 20.0 points per contest in 1988-89.

Rhode Island (17-12, 6-11) gets set to welcome Fordham on the heels of a 91-74 loss against Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.  The Rams trailed by just two at the half before the Hawks pulled away over the final 20 minutes.  Sebastian Thomas, Rhode Island's leading scorer this season at 17.4 points per game, netted 15 points to lead five Rams in double figures.  David Green, who averages 14.7 points per contest on the year, added 13.

Saturday will mark the second meeting of the season between Fordham and Rhode Island, as the Rose Hill Rams used a last-second tip-in layup from Matt Zona to take down Rhody, 80-79, on Feb. 5 in the Bronx.  Johnson scored a game-high 25 points in that outing while Joshua Rivera added 19 and Japhet Medor chipped in 17.

Fordham and Rhode Island will meet for the 76th time on Saturday afternoon, a series history that favors URI, 42-33.  Fordham has won three of its last four games against Rhode Island, including a 71-68 victory in Kingston last season.

Fordham will begin play in the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Wednesday at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.  The game will tip at either 2 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. depending on Saturday's results.
