Baseball Rallies Past Maine, 9-6

Daniel Bucciero Collects 150th Career Hit and Drives in Two in Fordham Win

Bronx, N.Y. – (March 18, 2025) – Fordham's Daniel Bucciero, Andrew Kanellis, and Madden Ocko each drove in two runs on Tuesday, leading the Rams to a 9-6 win over the Maine Black Bears at Houlihan Park.
 
Maine (4-14) opened the scoring with two runs in the first, as Brody Radmussen led off the game with a solo home run to right, his third of the season, while Drew Reynolds tripled to right field and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dean O'Neill.
 
Fordham (7-13) answered with three runs in the bottom of the first for a 3-2 lead.  Taylor Kirk drew a lead off walk  and moved to second on a single by Matt Dieguez.  After a double steal, Kirk scored on a ground out by Andrew Kanellis to make it, 2-1.  Daniel Bucciero then walked and stole second to put two in scoring position.  Madden Ocko followed with a two-run single, giving Fordham the lead.
 
The two teams exchanged two runs each in the third for a 5-4 score before a solo home run by O'Neill in the sixth inning tied the game at five for the Black Bears, his third of the season.
 
The Rams replied with two runs in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead at 7-5.  The runs scored on a sacrifice fly by Kanellis and an RBI-triple by Bucciero.
 
Maine stayed closed, getting back within one in the eighth, but Fordham netted two insurance runs in the eighth on RBI-doubles by Dieguez and Bucciero for the 9-6 final.  For Bucciero, it was his 150th career hit at Fordham.
 
Gannon Brady (1-1) earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits over three innings of relief, while Connor Haywood pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first save of the season, recording a pair of strikeouts.  At the plate, Dieguez was 2-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI, with Kanellis and Bucciero each having two hits and two RBI.  Carson Chavez was also 2-for-4 with an RBI.
 
Fordham has a quick turnaround for their next game, as the Rams play at Hofstra on Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
