Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad hosted its first home match of the spring, defeating Illinois State University, 4-0, at the Cary Leeds Center on Friday.
Fordham opened the match taking the doubles point, winning both completed doubles matches. Fordham's
Julianne Nguyen and
Nevena Kolarevic won at first doubles over Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli, 6-1, and
Lorraine Bergmann and
Lily Chitambar clinched the point for the Rams with a 6-2 win over Emma Lindh and Elena Jankulovska at the second position.
The Rams then won the match by taking all three completed singles matches, all in straight sets. Nguyen defeated Caculovic at first singles, 6-3, 6-3;
Paola Ueno Dalmonico took third singles from Lindh, 6-4, 6-2; and
Catalina Padilla Udaeta was victorious at the sixth spot over Nicole Iosio, 7-5, 6-3.
