Box Score

NEW YORK  – Despite erasing another double digit deficit Tuesday, Fordham University women's basketball was outlasted at George Washington, 69-59.

For the second game the Rams put together a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter, this time bringing themselves within six at 56-50. The Maroon and White drained five straight buckets, including four in a row from three-point range in a span of exactly 2:30, finding themselves right back in the game with 4:40 to play. As they did numerous times throughout however, George Washington mustered a couple of late makes from the field to keep themselves ahead,

With the loss, the Rams fall to 12-10 on the year, 6-5 in the A-10, dropping their third game in a row, and splitting the season series with George Washington. Irene Murua and Taylor Donaldson combined for 44 of the Rams' 59 points on the night, with Murua leading the way with 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

Donaldson tallied 21 points including seven makes on nine attempts from the free throw line, along with seven rebounds. Karissa Antoine led the rebounding effort with nine oards, followed by Kaila Berry with eight along with a pair of steals.

Despite the Rams breaking out to a slim lead early on, George Washington sparked an extended run through the end of the quarter Tuesday to pull ahead by nine after ten minutes of play.

Erasing a nearly eight minute drought without a make from the field, the Maroon and White opened the second quarter with six straight points, holding the Revs off the board for nearly the first three minutes of the period to pull back within three. Re-extending their lead, George Washington went back ahead by eight, before the Rams again cut it to three late, heading to the locker room down 27-24.

A back-and-forth start to the second half saw Fordham cut the deficit to as little as one, but the home side continued to maintain the lead, eventually surging ahead by 13 at the end of the quarter.

Facing another scoreless streak the Rams found themselves down by 20 before rattling off 14 unanswered points including four straight three point makes in 2:07 to bring themselves back within six with just under five minutes to play. Helped in part with a pair of key makes down the stretch, the Revs managed to keep the Rams at bay to see out the victory by ten points Tuesday night.

Fordham is back in action Saturday afternoon when they return to the Rose Hill Gym to host George Mason at 2:00 p.m.
