Hampton, Va. – (February 19, 2025) – The Fordham swimming & diving team started their four-day stay at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship, which is being held at the Hampton Aquaplex in Virginia.
Through day one, the Fordham women are in sixth place out of 11 teams with 67 points, while the men are tied for sixth out of eight teams with 50 points.
In the opening event of the championship, the Fordham women's team of
Leire Martin,
Emma Shaughnessy,
Ainhoa Martin, and
Jessica Zebrowski finished just off the podium by .10 seconds, taking fourth in a season-best time of 1:40.32.
In the men's event,
Christian Taylor,
Noah Althoff,
Vitalis Onu, and
Daniel Ribeiro scored sixth in a season-best time of 1:27.66.
Then in the 800 freestyle relay, the Rams would not be denied a medal in the women's race, as A. Martin, Zebrowski, L. Martin, and
Emilie Krog earned the bronze medal with a school record time of 7:17.59. That time bested the record of 7:18.45, set last year.
On the men's side, Fordham finished seventh overall, as Althoff,
Jesse Abramson,
Frankie Sanger, and
Dylan Champagne posted a time of 6:44.45
Lastly was the women's one-meter dive event, where
Mya Bokerman and
Molly Farrell made the "B" final. Bokerman finished 13
th overall with a score of 245.00, while Farrell scored 16
th at 205.20.
Other scores for the Rams were 210.90 by
Cai Flowers (20
th), 209.25 by
Maia Cacchione (22
nd), 196.35 by
Mya Sharkey (27
th), and 177.95 by
Ella Esposito (35
th).
Day two of competition starts at 10:00 AM on Thursday with preliminary heats, followed by finals at about 6:00 PM.
