SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Striking out three of the first four batters she faced Sunday morning, junior pitcher Holly Beeman's dominant performance in the circle helped lift the Rams to a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas.
Beeman tossed the length of Sunday's finale to the Bobcat Tournament at Texas State for her fourth complete game in as many outings to open the season, while picking up her second win of the campaign.
Through the first two weeks of the season, Fordham sits at 4-6, after posting a 3-2 record in five games at the Bobcat Tournament this weekend.
Following Beeman's three K's in the opening frame, the Maroon and White opened the scoring in the second inning, as Nicki Sudall bashed her first homer of the year over the left field wall to put the Rams on the board. Threatening in the fifth with a pair of runners on, Eva Koratsis sent a single to right field, doubling the Fordham lead with her fourth RBI of the weekend.
The Rams tacked on one more late as they worked pinch runner Morgan Volgraf around the bases before she came in to score on an Erin Hoppe single to put her side up by three, ahead of Beeman shutting down the Tommies in the bottom of the inning to solidify the win.
Embarking on their third tournament of the campaign next weekend, the Maroon and White head to Columbia, SC for four games at South Carolina. The Rams take on UNLV in a pair of games Friday and Saturday, along with single games against the host Gamecocks and Boston University.
