Bronx, N.Y. – With the non-conference side of the calendar wrapped up, Fordham University women's basketball will take on La Salle in the Atlantic 10 home opener on New Year's Eve at the Rose Hill Gym.
The Rams will square off with the Explorers at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+ with Andrew Bogusch and Andrew Posadas on the call.
Fordham (8-4, 0-1) opened A-10 play alongside the rest of the league back on Dec. 6, falling at defending champion George Mason to open the 16-game league slate. The Rams last played on Dec. 21, an 86-61 victory over Saint Francis at the Rose Hill Gym, improving to 6-1 at home this season.
La Salle (8-4, 1-0) is coming off an 85-37 setback in their non-conference finale at home to Mississippi State on Dec. 20. The Explorers defeated VCU in their conference opener at home on Dec. 6, and enter the meeting with the Rams boasting a 4-1 record on the road this season.
Notes
~ With the exception of a pair of Sunday matchups in January, the Rams will play 16 of their 18 league games on Wednesday's and Saturday's.
~ The Rams will play each of the league's 13 other teams once during A-10 play, along with a home-and-home slate against La Salle, Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure, Davidson, and Rhode Island.
~ With eight league home games in addition to the seven non-conference games scheduled as well, Fordham will play 16 of 29 games during the 2025-26 campaign at the historic Rose Hill Gymnasium.
~ Entering the New Year's clash with La Salle, the Rams sit ninth among all Division I teams in the nation averaging 17.2 offensive rebounds per game. Fordham ranks 44th nationally in overall rebounds at 42.00, both second best in the A-10.
~ The Maroon and White also sit 69th in the country in steals per game at 10.5/game, second best in the league as well, and lead the conference, ranked 58th in the country in turnovers forced per game, forcing opponents into 20.58/game.
~ Holding opponents to just 35.3% shooting on the year, the Rams also post the best field goal percentage defense in the A-10, and also pace the league averaging 28.3 bench points per game, 37th best of any team in the nation.
~ Fordham has drawn 20.08 free throws per game, ranked 64th in the country, and are 78th in free throws made per game, averaging 13.83, leading the A-10 in both categories.
~ Scoring in double figures in each of her first 12 games as a Ram, Alexis Black paces the Rams offense and sits third in the nation in free throws made with 78 on the year, and is 24th amongst all Division I players with 246 points scored, averaging 20.5 points per game, 14th best in the nation. Black is top five in the league in points, assists, steals, three pointers made, three point percentage, and free throws attempted and made.
