Bronx, N.Y. – It's said that momentum can be difficult to start, easy to lose, and hard to predict. All three proved true in today's Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal match between Fordham and Dayton. Fordham appeared to have grabbed momentum following a 74
th minute goal by
Daniel Lang to knot the game at one only to lose it less than two minutes later when the Flyers broke the tie with their second goal and held on to defeat the Rams, 2-1, at Moglia Stadium.
With the loss, Fordham closes out the season with an 8-6-4 record while Dayton, the two-time defending Atlantic 10 champions, improves to 8-2-7.
How it Happened
• Dayton started the scoring when Martin Bakken scored in the 27th minute, heading home a corner from Dren Dobruna.
• The score remained 1-0 until the 74
th minute when the Rams levelled the match on a goal from
Daniel Lang as collected a loose ball and got off a blast from about 20 yards that beat Dayton keeper Gavin Krenecki for his sixth goal of the season.
• The game wasn't tied for long as Dobruna got off a collected a pass on the right side and beat Fordham keeper
Tristan Stephani to the far post from 20 yards.
