BRONX, NY --The Fordham volleyball team got the job done in four sets Wednesday (25-18, 25-23, 26-28, 25-21, 25-21) to knock off the Rhode Island Rams at the historic Rose Hill Gym.
The win improved the Rams' record to 7-8 overall and 1-4 in Atlantic 10 action.
The Rams offense was paced by Audrey Brown, who finished with 16 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .333. Zoe Talabong added 13 kills and Erynn Sweeney chipped in with 12 as part of balanced Fordham attack. Defensively, the Rams also had two players reach double figures in digs as Ozge Ozaslan Whitney Woodrow had 13 receptions each, while from the front row, Sophia Kuyn contributed eight blocks and Tatum Holderied added five rejections.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Fordham put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-23 victory in set number two. The Rams grabbed control of the set lead early on at 3-2 and never looked back. Fordham led by as many as nine points at 12-3 before closing out the set. The Fordham offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza. Fordham's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Rhode Island attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Fordham saw its chance for a 3-0 sweep before strong play down the stretch saw Rhode Island take the third set. The Rams fell in a tight frame, losing 28-26 in a set that was tied five times and had two lead changes.
SET 4 | Fordham then responded to end the match with a 25-21 fourth-set victory. The Rams survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured six lead changes and was tied 11 times. Neither team was able to grab a lead larger than four points along the way. Fordham also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set, and got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Rhode Island attacks in the stanza.
