San Jose, Calif. – (October 26, 2025) – In a week of tight, top ten match-ups, the Fordham water polo team found itself in another one on Sunday to wrap up its west coast swing. In the end,
Andras Toth scored his third goal of the game with 1:22 left in the fourth quarter to give the Rams a 10-9 win over #8 San Jose State.
With the win, Fordham improved to 15-3 on the year, while San Jose State is 9-6.
THE GAME
- San Jose State opened with a 3-2 lead after the first quarter with two of those goals from Sam Keightley.
- The Spartans increased the lead to 5-3 at halftime, as they limited the Rams to just one goal in the quarter by Andras Toth.
- The Rams rallied in the third quarter, tying the game at five on markers by Barnabas Eppel and Balazs Berenyi. Berenyi scored his second goal of the quarter later in the frame with Luca Silvestri also scoring to put the score at seven all, entering the final frame.
- Silvestri netted the first two goals of the fourth for a 9-7 lead, but the Spartans tallied goals on a power play and a penalty shot to tie the game at nine with 1:49 left.
- Toth then broke the tie with a goal at the 1:22 mark for a 10-9 Fordham lead.
- The Rams then killed off two man-advantage chances by San Jose State to secure the win.
