Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Duquesne

Daniel D’Ippolito provides lone goal of game for Rams

Bronx, N.Y. – Twenty-five years ago today, NASA launched STS-92, the 100th Space Shuttle mission. Tonight, Fordham senior midfielder Daniel D'Ippolito's launch wasn't as noteworthy as a space shuttle but it was just as impressive. D'Ippolito blasted a shot from 38-yards out on a free kick to lead Fordham to a 1-0 Atlantic 10 win over Duquesne at Moglia Stadium.
 
With the win, Fordham improves to 7-2-3 overall, 4-0-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Duquesne falls to 6-4-2 overall, 1-4-0 in the conference.
 
How it Happened
• Fordham grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute when Daniel D'Ippolito scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season as he lined up a free kick and blasted it past Duquesne keeper Diego Chavez.
 
Game Notes
• Fordham grad student keeper Tristan Stephani made two saves in net for the Rams to record his fifth shutout of the season.
 
• Stephani entered the game leading the Atlantic 10 and ranking eight in the NCAA in GAA (0.50).
 
• The goal was D'Ippolito's 24th career tally, ninth on the Fordham career goals list.
 
• He has 64 career points, moving him to seventh on the Fordham career list.
