DAVIDSON, N.C. (Jan. 9, 2025) – The Fordham men's basketball team will conclude a two-game Atlantic 10 road swing on Saturday when it takes on the Davidson Wildcats inside Belk Arena.

Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+, 90.7 FM WFUV and the WFUV Sports YouTube page.

Fordham (8-8, 0-3 Atlantic 10) will wrap a two-game, five-day road trip that opened with a Wednesday night loss to VCU in Richmond.  Played without spectators in the stands due to an ongoing water crisis in the Richmond area, the game was a one-point affair at halftime before VCU pulled away in the latter part of the second stanza.

Japhet Medor led the way offensively for the Rams, scoring 19 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including a 3-for-6 showing from beyond the arc.  The graduate student, who turned in his second-highest scoring output of the season, also paced the Rams with six rebounds and four assists.

Matt Zona also reached double figures against VCU, converting on five of his seven field goal tries for 14 points.  The graduate transfer from Notre Dame hit two 3-pointers and was a perfect 3-for-3 from inside the arc.  Zona's 14 points were one off his career-high of 15 set against UAlbany on Dec. 21.

Jackie Johnson III finished with eight points on Wednesday night, marking the first time in 16 opportunities this season that the senior guard failed to reach double figures.  His 15-game streak scoring 10 or more points was the longest by a Fordham player since Chris Gaston accomplished the feat in 22 straight appearances spanning the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.  On the year, Johnson's 17.8 points per game are good for sixth in the Atlantic 10.

The Rams' put forth their best defensive effort of league play against VCU, holding the Richmond Rams to 41.5% shooting from the field and 19.2% (5-of-26) from three-point range, both of which were well below their season averages.

Davidson (11-4, 1-1 A-10) readies for the Rams following a week off from competition.  In their most recent outing against Duquesne, a 77-71 win on Jan. 4, the Wildcats improved to 9-0 at home thanks to 22 points and eight rebounds from Reed Bailey.  Bailey, a 6-foot-10 junior forward, is the league's third leading scorer at 18.3 points per game.  He is also the team's leading rebounds (6.7 rpg) and distributor (3.3 apg).  Bailey is one of three Wildcats averaging double figures on the season, as Connor Kochera pours in 15.2 points per outing while Bobby Durkin adds 14.9.  Durkin, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward, has been lethal from beyond the arc, converting on 49 of his 107 three-point tries (45.8%) this season.

Two of Davidson's three non-league losses came against teams that were ranked at the time, as the Wildcats fell to then-No. 24 Arizona and then-No. 3 Gonzaga during the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Fordham and Davidson will meet for the 21st time in the history of the two programs on Saturday afternoon.  After dropping two regular season decisions to Davidson in 2023-24, the Rams topped the Wildcats in the opening round of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament, winning  in overtime, 71-63, at Barclays Center.

The Rams are 2-7 all-time at Davidson with wins coming in 2022-23 and 2016-17.
