Water Polo Remains Undefeated on Day One of Bison Invitational

Rams Take Down Mt. St. Mary’s, 21-5, and Buckell, 20-9

Lewisburg, Pa. – (September 21, 2024) – The beat keeps going for the nationally ranked Fordham water polo team, as the Rams racked up 41 goals on Saturday to take the opening two matches of the Bison Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa.

Fordham defeated a pair of MAWPC opponents, starting with a 21-5 victory over Mt. St. Mary's.

The Rams opened the match by scoring the first nine goals of the game, which came from seven different players.  Tyler Fahey and James Oriskovich each scored twice in that stretch with Andras Toth, Marco Napolitano, Lucas Nieto Jasny, Barnabas Eppel, and Luca Provenziani having the others.

Fordham stayed ahead by a wide margin throughout the rest of the contest, as defensively they only gave up two goals in the second and third quarters and one in the fourth.

Eppel and Nieto Jasny each had a hat trick with Oriskovich, Paul Armingol, Fahey, Provenziani, and Csongor Bartuszek having two goals apiece.  In net, Thomas Lercari played the first quarter and a half, making four saves, while Kristof Magony had three saves in just over quarter of action with Reggie Robles having two stops in the same amount of time.

In match two, Fordham posted its eighth straight win over Bucknell by a 20-9 count.

Similar to their earlier match, the Rams jetted out to a big lead at 7-1 after the first quarter and never looked back.

Nieto Jasny was the big scorer, netting five markers to go with two steals, while Toth posted four goals, two assists, and two steals.  George Papanikolaou added a hat trick and two assists with Jacopo Parrella and Eppel each having two goals.  Lecari got most of the work in goal, recording eight saves and three steals over three and a half quarters of play.

Fordham finishes up at the Bison Invitational on Sunday against Johns Hopkins (10:40 AM) and Salem (2:40 PM).
