BRONX, N.Y. – With the start of the season just around the corner, Fordham Men's Soccer has made one last addition to its roster for 2024, as seven-year-old
Neythan Yaucan will join the Rams through Team IMPACT.
Team IMPACT is a national non-profit organization that was created to connect kids with serious medical conditions to college athletic programs, coaches and student-athletes. The organization has worked with more than 800 colleges and universities in just over a decade and has helped more than 1,000 children and their families form lasting connections.
Neythan came to the United States from Ecuador last year for medical treatment as he battles Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After a series of virtual meetings with the team, Neythan was finally able to join the Rams in person earlier this week and sign his letter of intent. Neythan, who also loves superhero movies, showed off some of his impressive soccer skills by participating in a few drills with the team.
"We're so excited that the team was finally able to meet Neythan in person," said Head Coach
Carlo Acquista. "He's a great kid with a great personality. I can tell that he and our guys took an immediate liking to each other. We hope to have Neythan around the team as much as we can."
The Rams will continue to connect with Neythan throughout the 2024 season as he continues his treatments.
Fordham will open the campaign on Thursday, Aug. 22, with a trip to No. 17 Hofstra. The Rams will host their home opener on Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. against Colgate.
