BRONX, N.Y. – Unlike last season when the Rams had a bunch of holes to fill in the lineup, the 2024 Fordham football team opened its fall camp on Monday with lots of veterans and are ready to put the experience to good use. Head coach
Joe Conlin, entering his seventh season on the Fordham sidelines, ran his troops through their first workout today at Moglia Stadium.
Conlin guided the Rams through a two-hour workout as they prepare for the 2024 season opener on August 29 when Fordham travels to Bowling Green at 7:00 p.m.
Some notes from today's practice:
• The Rams practiced with helmets only and will do the same on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Friday and Saturday they will be in spiders before donning shoulder pads for Sunday. The first day of full pads will be Wednesday, August 7.
• The Rams return eight starters to each side of the ball with the defensive returners led by senior defensive lineman
Matt Jaworski, the 2024 Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, along with other Preseason All-League picks senior linebacker
James Conway, grad student defensive back
Nahil Perkins, and junior defensive lineman
Claudy Robinson.
• The offensive returners are led by junior quarterback
CJ Montes and grad student offensive lineman
Ryan Joyce, both
Preseason All-Patriot League picks.
• Sophomore defensive lineman
John Scott III (non-returning special teams) and junior long snapper
Walker Adkinson (long snapper) also received
Preseason All-Patriot League accolades.
• Montes and Jaworski joined Conlin at Patriot League Media Day last Thursday.
Check out what they had to say.
• There's another new "old" face on the coaching staff as former All-American linebacker
Ryan Greenhagen returns to Rose Hill to coach the outside linebackers in 2024.
• A few veterans changed uniform numbers with defensive lineman
Chris Tuck II switching from 82 to 24, running back
Jacob Rodriguez moving from 19 to 34, defensive lineman
Michael Thorn switching from 41 to 21, wide receiver
Michael Donegan swapping 43 for 41, and long snapper
Walker Adkinson changing his uniform number from 81 to 54.
• There were many new faces at Moglia Stadium today with over 25 freshmen Rams taking part in their first practice.
• Two former Rams are currently in NFL training camps (Chase Edmonds, Buccaneers and Nick Zakelj, 49ers).
• Two other former Rams are also with NFL teams: Brandon Brown, who played for the Rams from 2006-09, is in his second season as the New York Giants' assistant general manager, and Nick Lombardi, who was a student assistant at Fordham, is a senior offensive assistant with the San Francisco 49ers.
• Season tickets for the 2024 home season are now on sale through the
Fordham Athletic Ticket Office.
