Bronx, N.Y. – (July 24, 2024) – For the second time in his swimming career, Fordham swimmer
Alexander Shah will represent his home country of Nepal at the Summer Olympic Games. The 2024 Summer Olympic Games are in Paris, France, and begin with the opening ceremonies on Friday, July 26
th.
Previously, Shah took part in the Tokyo Summer Olympics for Nepal in 2021, competing in the 100-meter freestyle and ranking 59
th. He will be in the men's 100-meter freestyle once again on July 30
th, though heat assignments have yet to be released.
The preliminaries for the men's 100-meter freestyle at the Paris La Defense Arena will follow the heats of the men's 200-meter butterfly on July 30
th as the second event of the day.

Shah qualified for the Summer Games, following his performance at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Shah finished 58
th out of 116 swimmers in the 50-meter freestyle in 23.79 seconds and 62
nd out of 108 swimmers in the 100-meter freestyle in 52.17 seconds. He set new personal-best times in both events, besting his marks of 23.89 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle and 52.94 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle from the 2023 World Aquatics Championship in Fukuoka, Japan.
For Fordham this past season, Shah served as a team co-captain and led the men's squad to an 8-1 dual meet record. He earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors as a part of three Fordham relays at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays and the 200-yard medley relay, setting school records in all three events Additionally, he made the finals of the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, scoring ninth and sixth, respectively.
