Bronx, N.Y. – (May 10, 2024) – VCU's Jack Hoeymans and Brian Curley combined for a five-hit shutout, while Brandon Eike hit a two-run home run, as the VCU Rams shut out the Fordham Rams, 4-0 at Houlihan Park on a rainy Friday night.
With the game scoreless through three innings, VCU (29-20, 11-7 A10) opened the scoring on an RBI-single by Cooper Benzin, scoring Eli Weisner from third.
Then in the fifth inning, VCU struck three times to extend the lead to 4-0. Casey Kleinman doubled down the left field line to start the inning and came home on a double to center by Chris McHugh. Brandon Eike then hit a two-run home run to center, his ninth of the season.
Hoeymans and Curley then took over, limiting Fordham to just five hits in the game. Hoeymans went the first four innings, allowing three hits with six strikeouts, while Curley thew the final five innings, giving up two hits with eight strikeouts.
