Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham University men's tennis squad saw its season come to a close with a 4-1 loss to Duquesne University in the first round of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship at the USTA National Campus.
Fordham, seeded ninth, opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of the three completed doubles matches from the eighth-seeded Dukes.
Bingru Chen and
Stefan Stojanovic got it started with a 6-3 win over Duquesne's Pierce Manning and Bode Vance at third doubles.
After the Rams lost a close match at first doubles 7-6(5), Fordham picked up the doubles point when
Giorgio Soemarno and
John Mascone upended Keita Duclos and Alfrendo Vogelaar at the second position 7-6(5).
Despite the 4-1 loss, singles play was hotly contested with two flights going to a third set.
