Softball Plays to 6-6 Draw in Home Opener

The Rams and Camels would play seven innings before being halted due to rain

BRONX, N.Y. – Making their first appearance of the 2024 season on campus at Bahoshy Field, Fordham University Softball played to a 6-6 draw with Campbell Wednesday afternoon.

In an attempt to avoid impending rain expected later, the Rams and Camels moved to an 11:00 a.m. start and would play a full seven innings, tied at six apiece and headed for extra innings before weather swept through the area and ended the game in a draw.

Sydney Wells and Bailey Enoch would each tally a hit and an RBI for the third consecutive game, with four different Rams driving in a run, led by Wells with three.

Campbell would open the scoring with a pair of runs in the second inning, and extended a 4-0 lead with another two runs in the third. Fordham would get one back off an Enoch single in the third, kicking off a big rally for the Rams that saw them score all six runs in that frame.

Wells would bash a bases clearing double to score three runs and tie the game with one swing of the bat. Erin Hoppe came around to score on a wild pitch and the Rams kept the pressure on, reloading the bases before Bella Ayala walked to force in the tying run. A two run single would see the Camels level the score in the top of the seventh, before the game was halted due to weather.

Fordham will head to Clemson, S.C. for their final tournament of the campaign, playing five games at the Tiger Invitational from Friday-Sunday.
