Rams Split Doubleheader Wednesday with 10-0 win in game two

The Rams would fall in game one 3-1, before winning in five innings in game two

BRONX, N.Y.  – The weather forecast Wednesday afternoon all but described today as a beautiful day for a ballgame, and in a pair of games at Bahoshy Field, Fordham University closed the day with a 10-0 win over FDU to split a doubleheader with the Knights.

A pitchers duel for much of game one, Devon Miller would not allow a base runner through five innings, before FDU rallied to pull a 3-1 win in game one. Game two would see the Rams score multiple times in each of the first three innings to take a 7-0 lead, before ending via run-rule 10-0 on a three-run home run in the fifth.

Scattering 10 of their 13 hits Wednesday in game two, Bailey Enoch and Sydney Wells would tally three hits apiece to lead the Rams, while Gianna Sarlo tallied four RBIs and Eva Koratsis finished with three.

A quiet first turn through the order for both sides, Fordham would tally the first hit of game one with an Enoch double over the right fielder's head, but FDU would escape the runner in scoring position to keep the game level.

Miller would continue to mow down the Knights from there, tossing a perfect game into the sixth, where FDU broke the deadlock in one swing with a solo home run to left field. The visitors would strike for all three of their runs in the sixth, to take a 3-0 lead.

A pair of hits in the bottom of the frame would see Fordham tack on a single run from a Wells double to cut into the lead, but a scoreless seventh would see FDU take a 3-1 win in the early game of the day.

The Rams would strike early in game two, putting a runner on early, before Koratsis drilled a two-run shot just over the high fence in left field to give the home side an early lead.

Fordham would tack on another run in the second, as Bella Ayala ripped a worm-burner back through the middle that rolled beyond the center fielder, allowing her to reach third on a triple to score Kate McGuire. With some heads-up baserunning amidst a run-down between first and second, Ayala would come home amidst the chaos across the time to put the Rams up 4-0.

Continuing to pour it on the third, back-to-back doubles by Wells and Koratsis brought a fifth run home for Fordham, forcing a pitching change by FDU. Loading the bases a short-while later, Annie Sullivan would come home on a passed ball for her first collegiate run scored. A sac-fly by Sarlo later in the inning, her second RBI of the day, gave the Rams a 7-0 lead.

After another scoreless inning in the circle by Holly Beeman, the Rams would put a pair of runners on before Sarlo sent a screaming shot over the wall in left center to end the game via run-rule with a three run homer to give her side a 10-0 win.

Fordham will continue their homestand this weekend when they open Atlantic 10 Conference play with a three game set against Rhode Island. The "Battle of the Rams" will feature a Saturday doubleheader at Bahoshy Field at 12:00 p.m. followed by a single game at the same time the following day.
