Four Rams Named CSC Academic All-District

Abbott, D’Ippolito, Insalaco and Lehr recognized for accomplishments in the classroom

BRONX, N.Y. – Following a standout year on the pitch for the Fordham men's soccer team, four Rams were recognized by College Sports Communicators for their efforts in the classroom, as Carter Abbott, Daniel D'Ippolito, Andre Insalaco and Louis Lehr earned spots on the Academic All-District Team.

These four student-athletes played a key role in the Rams earning the program's sixth NCAA Tournament bid.  Fordham compiled an 8-6-5 record against the nation's seventh toughest strength of schedule, including results against NCAA Tournament national seeds Hofstra and Dayton.  The Rams finished the regular season with an RPI of 29 and advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the eighth time in the last 11 years.

Abbott started 16 matches for the Rams, going 8-5-3 with a 1.30 goals against average and a .726 save percentage.  The graduate transfer from Wisconsin played a part in five clean sheets, including four solo shutouts.

D'Ippolito turned in the best offensive season by a Fordham player in more than two decades, scoring 14 goals and dishing out seven assists for 35 points.  His 14 goals were the most by a Fordham player since John Wolyniec scored 25 times in 1998 and tied for ninth on the program's single-season record list.  His 35 points are the third highest individual total in the nation this season.  He earned Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year honors and found a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 First Team.

Insalaco finished second on the team in both goals (4) and points (11).  The junior forward registered three goals and a pair of assists during league play, helping the Rams finish 4-1-3 in a four-bid Atlantic 10.

Lehr was a stalwart for the Rams in midfield, tallying two goals and three assists on the season.  His most impactful contributions came in the defensive end, where he helped anchor a Fordham unit that ranked among the best in the Atlantic 10.
