BRONX, N.Y. (Nov. 18, 2024) – The Fordham men's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday night inside the Rose Hill Gym when it hosts Georgian Court. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Rams (2-2) return to the friendly confines of the Rose Hill Gym after dropping the 115
th edition of The Battle of the Bronx, 78-76, on Friday night at Draddy Gymnasium. Fordham trailed Manhattan by as many as 13 in the final minute before staging a furious late-game rally that fell just short.
Japhet Medor scored a game-high 23 points against the Jaspers, going 8-for-15 from the floor and 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. His six made 3-pointers set a new career high.
Jackie Johnson III eclipsed the 20-point mark for the third time in just four games as a member of the Rams, scoring 21 points in addition to dishing out four assists. Johnson, who never scored more than 17 points in 59 games at UNLV over seasons before coming to Fordham, is averaging 21.3 points per outing with the Rams and no fewer than 18 points in any one game.
Will Richardson also reached double figures against the Jaspers, finishing with 12 points and six rebounds.
Despite coming out on the wrong end of the result, Fordham turned the ball over just 10 times on Friday night, marking its second straight game with 10 or fewer miscues. The Rams surrendered possession just eight times against Binghamton in their home opener.
Georgian Court, a Division II school in Lakewood, N.J., is 0-3 on the season, including a 75-58 loss to Bloomsburg at home on Saturday. The Lions opened the season at Drexel on Nov. 4, a game that Georgian Court designated as an exhibition and did not count toward their record. The Dragons won that contest, 95-43, in Philadelphia.
Junior guard Cam Edmonds made his season debut on Saturday for the Lions, posting 21 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
The Rams will return to action on Friday night at the Rose Hill Gym when they welcome Drexel for a campus-site game of the Sunshine Slam. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
