NEW YORK – Embarking on their first road trip in nearly three weeks, Fordham University Volleyball heads to the Nation's Capital this weekend for a pair of games at George Washington.

Weekend Plans

Fordham and the Revolutionaries will square off Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and take to the court again the following afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will stream live on ESPN+ from the Charles E. Smith Center on the campus of George Washington.

Hammer Time

Pacing the attack at over 125 kills apiece, a pair of Rams enter the second weekend of league play averaging more than 3.0 kills per set in Whitley Moody (3.40/set) and Audrey Brown (3.07/set).

In nine of her first 11 games in 2024, Moody has tallied double digit kills, highlighted by a new career high with 24 hammers while hitting .447 in a four set win over Columbia on Sept. 7. Brown has notched 10 or more kills on eight occasions thus far, including a season-high 19 kills against Lafayette on Sept. 13.

Double Trouble

Moody has also tallied seven double-doubles this season, while averaging 3.94 kills per set at 3.00 digs per set. Whitney Woodrow sits second on the team after notching her fifth double-dip of the season in the first game against Saint Louis, posting 45 assists and 14 digs over five sets. That match also marked Woodrow's fourth double-double in the past six games.

Recording her first of the season against Lafayette, Ryan Naumann would tally 10 assists and 18 digs against the Leopards, and enters the weekend leading the team from the libero spot with 3.50 digs per set. Tatum Holderied would post her first career double-double with a career-high 10 kills against FDU where she also had a pair of solo blocks and eight block assists for 10 total blocks on the night.

Trouble at the Tape

Entering the weekend averaging just shy of 1.99 blocks per set as a team, the Rams have posted 10.0 or more total blocks on four occasions in 2024, most recently in game one against Saint Louis with an even 10, and the Rams have tallied 83.5 total blocks this season.

Holderied paces the team with 27.0 total blocks, one of two Rams averaging over 1.0 blocks per set, alongside Lorenza Rosenkilde, at 1.13 and 1.07 blocks per set, respectively. Holderied has already amassed nine solo blocks, while in total blocks, both Moody and Kuyn have tallied 21.0 blocks thus far.

A-10 Opener

Bouncing back from an opening set defeat, would take the next two sets, but a gritty Saint Louis team would force a deciding fifth set, pulling away to hand the Rams a heartbreaking 3-2 loss Friday night to open A-10 play. Brown would lead the Rams as she rattled off 18 kills and notched four block assists, while Moody had a double double with 10 kills and 10 digs.

Despite the scoreline showing 3-0 Saturday afternoon, it was an all-day fight by the Rams, who stayed close with Saint Louis for the entirety of the match in a straight set defeat against the Billikens.A pair of Rams would finish in double figures on the attack, as Moody slammed 11 kills and Brown rattled off 10. Lauryn Sweeney would tally eight kills while Woodrow recorded 27 assists and eight digs, tied for the team high in receptions with Naumann.

Scouting the Revs

Hot right out of the gates, George Washington would rattle off seven wins in its first nine matches to start the year, and enter the weekend 11-4, after splitting the opening weekend of league play against Duquesne last Saturday. Salem Yohannes leads the Revolutionaries with 181 kills on the year, averaging 3.42/set and sits second on the team at 2.58 digs per set as well.
