Bridgeport, Pa. – (October 2, 2024) – The Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) released its weekly awards on Wednesday with Fordham freshman
Luca Provenziani (Rome, Italy) earning the league's Player and Rookie of the Week honors. They are the first career honors for Provenziani.
Provenziani keyed the Rams to a 4-0 weekend that included wins over #7 Princeton and #17 Navy. He totaled 13 goals, six assists, and four steals in four matches. He scored a season-high five goals to go with an assist and three steals in a win over #7 Princeton, and then matched that performance with five goals to go with four assists in a win over #17 Navy. He capped the weekend with a goal, an assist, and a steal versus George Washington and two goals against Mercyhurst.
Provenziani took over as the Rams' scoring leader this week with 54 points on the year. He has 31 goals and 23 assists, good for second on the team in both categories.
Fordham, which stands at 13-0 on the year, 6-0 in the MAWPC, moved up to #6 in both the CWPA/NCAA and ACWPC National Top 20 polls this week, the highest ranking in program history.
Provenziani and the Rams have this week off before returning to the pool on Saturday, October 12
th for home matches against Wagner (11:00 AM) and Iona (3:00 PM)
