Davidson, N.C. – (April 2, 2023) – After seeing the wind blow one way over the first two games of the series, the wind shifted in Fordham's direction on Sunday, as the Rams picked up their first Atlantic 10 win over the Davidson Wildcats, 6-4, at Wilson Field.
With the win, Fordham improved to 12-16 overall, 1-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Davidson had their seven-game win streak snapped, falling to 15-11 on the year, 2-1 in the league.
Davidson opened the scoring in the third inning when Ryan Wilson hit a three-run home run to left, his league-leading 13
th of the season.
The Rams responded with three runs of their own in the top of the fourth inning. With one on and two out,
Zach Selinger drew a walk, while
Cian Sahler reached on an infield single to load the bases.
Michael Taylor,
Jack Vallario, and
Ryan Thiesse then drew three straight walks to force in runs and tie the game.
The Wildcats regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run by Henry Koehler, his third of the season.
The score remained at 4-3 until the seventh when Fordham surged ahead by a 5-4 count.
Tommy McAndrews led off with a double to center, which was followed by a two-run home run to left center by
Peter DeMaria, his fourth of the season.
Fordham added to the lead in the eighth on an RBI-single by McAndrews, which scored
Jack Vallario from second after he reached on a single.

Ben Kovel locked down the Rams' win with his fourth save of the season, as he pitched the final three innings without allowing a hit and striking out two.
Connor Haywood (1-1) registered the win in relief of starter
Austin Sachen, pitching a scoreless sixth inning. Sachen had a quality start, allowing four runs on six hits over five innings with six strikeouts.
At the plate, DeMaria was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI, while McAndrews was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Selinger also had two hits in the game with Thiesse and Vallario posting a hit and two walks each.
Fordham will next be in action on Tuesday, April 4
th, when the Rams head to Siena for a 3:00 PM game.
