Bronx, N.Y. – The 2023 Fordham University football schedule was officially released today and it includes a game against an FBS opponent along with five home games on Jack Coffey Field.
 
Head coach Joe Conlin's Rams open the 2023 season with a trip to state capital to face the University at Albany Great Danes on August 26. The following week Fordham will host Wagner College in its home opener followed, a week later, with a trip to Buffalo to take on the University at Buffalo Bulls. It will be the 12th time over the past 13 years that Fordham will face an NCAA FCS school (a 2020 game at Hawaii was canceled due to COVID), with the Rams winning two of the games, a 30-29 triumph at Temple in 2013, and a 37-35 victory at Army West Point in 2015.
 
Fordham also has non-conference games listed with Stonehill College and Stony Brook University.
 
The Rams went 9-3 last year, 5-1 in the Patriot League, earning and NCAA FCS Championship at-large bid, Fordham's sixth NCAA FCS Championship appearance.
 
Fordham will play a six-game Patriot League schedule this fall, with home games against Bucknell, Lehigh, and defending league champions Holy Cross.
 
August 26 – at University at Albany (Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium, Albany, N.Y.)

• Tenth meeting between the Rams and the Great Danes.
• Fordham leads all-time series, 5-4.
• The Rams took last year's meeting, 48-45, on Jack Coffey Field.
• Last year's game was the first between the teams since 2007, a 23-20 Albany win on Jack Coffey Field.
• First four meetings were on the NCAA Div. III level.
• Albany is a member of the CAA for football.
• Great Danes finished 3-8 last fall.
• First of two CAA opponents for Fordham in 2023 (Stony Brook).

 
September 2 – vs. Wagner (Jack Coffey Field)

• Home opener
• Fordham has taken the past two meetings, including a 48-31 win at Wagner in last year's season opener.
• Seahawks are coached by former Fordham head coach Tom Masella.
• 14th meeting between Fordham and Wagner.
• Two teams met in the 1987 NCAA Div. III Playoff game.
• First eleven meetings came on the NCAA Div. III level.
• Rams and Seahawks played at Giant Stadium in 1978, a game won by the Rams.
• Seahawks are members of the Northeast Conference.
• First of two games vs. NEC foes in 2023 (Stonehill).
• Wagner was 1-10 last season.

 
September 9 – at University at Buffalo (UB Stadium, Buffalo, N.Y.)

• Fourth meeting between Fordham and Buffalo on the gridiron.
• The Bulls leads all-time series, 2-1.
• First game with Buffalo since the 1995 season opener, won by the Bulls.
• Second straight season with a game against a MAC opponent (Rams played at Ohio last fall).
• Bulls went 7-6 overall, 5-2 in the MAC, in 2022.
• Buffalo defeated Georgia Southern in the 2022 Camellia Bowl.

 
September 23 – vs. Stonehill College (Jack Coffey Field)

• First meeting between Fordham and Stonehill on the grid­iron.
• Skyhawks moved from NCAA Div. II to NCAA FCS last year.
• Stonehill is a member of the Northeast Conference.
• Skyhawks were 4-5 overall last year, 2-5 in the NEC.
• Played in the Division II Northeast-10 Conference from 2001-2021.
• Stonehill is located in Easton, Mass.

 
 
September 30 – at Georgetown University* (Cooper Field, Washington, D.C.)

• 69th meeting between Fordham and Georgetown on the grid­iron.
• The Rams lead the all-time series, which started in 1889, 42-23-3.
• Fordham has taken nine of the past ten meetings, including a 59-38 win on Jack Coffey Field last year, as Tim DeMorat threw four touchdown passes and Trey Sneed and Julius Loughridge each rushed for more than 100 yards.
• Fordham is 17-3 against Georgetown since the Hoyas joined the Patriot League in 2001.
• The Rams are 14-9-1 against Georgetown in Washington, D.C.
• The 64 varsity meetings with the Hoyas are the most against any opponent for the Rams.
• Georgetown was 2-9 in 2022, 1-5 in the Patriot League.

 
October 7 – Lehigh University* (Jack Coffey Field)

• Homecoming
• 34th meeting between Fordham and Lehigh on the gridiron.
• The Rams have taken seven of the past nine meetings, including three of the last four on Jack Coffey Field.
• Tim DeMorat competed 26-of-37 passes for 499 yards and four touchdowns in last year's 40-28 Fordham win at Lehigh with MJ Wright catching four passes for 226 yards and two scores.
• The Mountain Hawks were 2-9 overall, 2-4 in the Patriot League, last season.

 
 
October 14 – at Stony Brook University (LaValle Stadium, Stony Brook, N.Y.)

• Seventh meeting between Fordham and Stony Brook on the grid­iron with the all-time series tied, 3-3.
• Fifth meeting on the NCAA FCS level as the first two meetings occurred on the NCAA Division III level.
• Fordham took last year's meeting, 45-14, on Jack Coffey Field as Tim DeMorat completed 27 of 39 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns while Julius Loughridge rushed for 111 yards and two scores.
• Stony Brook competes in the CAA for football.
• Seawolves were 2-9 overall, 1-7 in the CAA, in 2022.

 
October 28 – Holy Cross* (Jack Coffey Field)

• Family Weekend
• 61st meeting between Fordham and Holy Cross on the gridiron.
• Annual Ram-Crusader Cup contest.
• The Rams are 12-11 against Holy Cross as the home team (7-6 on Jack Coffey Field), 9-16-1 at Holy Cross, 2-2-1 at the Polo Grounds and 1-1 at Yankee Stadi­um.
• Holy Cross has won the past three Patriot League titles.
• The Crusaders went 12-1 overall, 6-0 in the Patriot League, in 2022.

 
 
November 4 – Bucknell University* (Jack Coffey Field)

• Senior Day
• 39th meeting between Fordham and Bucknell on the gridiron.
• Fordham leads the all-time series, 20-18.
• Fordham has taken the past ten meetings, including a 59-17 win in Lewisburg, Pa., last November as Tim DeMorat completed 31 of 49 passes for 346 yards and five touchdowns.
• The first four meetings between the Rams and Bison were played at the Polo Grounds with Fordham winning three of the four.
• The Bison were 3-8 overall, 2-4 in the Patriot League, last fall.

 
November 11 – at Lafayette College* (Fisher Stadium, Easton, Pa.)

• 41st meeting between Fordham and Lafayette on the gridiron.
• The Rams have taken the last two meetings and six of the past ten, including a 45-10 win on Jack Coffey Field last November as Tim DeMorat completed 32 of 45 passes for 482 yards and four touchdowns.
• Rams have won four of the past five meetings on Jack Coffey Field.
• Chase Edmonds set the Patriot League record with 359 rushing yards against the Leopards in 2017.
• The Leopards were 4-7 overall, 3-3 in the Patriot League, in 2022.

 
November 19 – at Colgate University* (Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium, Hamilton, N.Y.)

• 35th meeting between Fordham and Colgate on the gridiron.
• The Rams knocked off the Raiders, 52-38, in the regular season final last year on Jack Coffey Field as Tim DeMorat completed 33 of 51 passes for 454 yards and tied a school record with six touchdown passes and Trey Sneed rushed for a career-high 230 yards and one score.
• Fordham has taken two of the past three meetings.
• The Raiders were 3-8 overall, 2-4 in the Patriot League last year.
