Bronx, N.Y. – After being held to three runs in the first game of the series with St. Bonaventure on Saturday, the Fordham softball bats exploded today, scoring 14 runs on 22 hits to complete an Atlantic 10 doubleheader sweep of the Bonnies, taking the first game 10-2 in five innings, and the nightcap 4-2, on Bahoshy Field.

With the sweep, Fordham improves to 9-14 overall , 2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure falls to 5-15 overall, 1-5 in the conference.

In game one,
Michaela Carter led the Fordham offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBI while
Sarah Taffet and
Sydney Wells were each 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Holly Beeman went the distance on the mound, allowing four hits and fanning four to improve to 4-3 on the year.

The Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two with all seven runs coming in the second frame. Wells opened the inning with a single and moved to second on a single from
Eva Koratsis. A Taffet single loaded the bases and
Kate McGuire plated the first run with an infield single. One out later, Carter forced in a run with a walk and
Neleh Nogay followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0.
Bailey Enoch was hit by a pitch to bring in another run before Carter scored on a passed ball to give the Rams a 5-0 lead.
Julia Martine brought in another run with a sacrifice fly before the seventh run came in on an error.

Fordham tacked on another run in the third on an RBI ground out from
Mary Grace O'Neill before Abby Suhr got the Bonnies on the board with a two-run home run in the fourth.

The Rams got one in the home half of the frame on an RBI double from Koratsis and ended the game on Carter's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

In game two, Nogay was a perfect 4-for-4 with a run scored while Martine finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Devon Miller picked up the complete game win, allowing four hits while fanning six, to go to 2-4 on the season.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the first on an Enoch sacrifice fly and made it 2-0 in the second as Miller helped herself with a solo home run to right, her first of the year.

The game remained a 2-0 contest until the bottom of the fifth when Martine delivered Nogay with a double to make it 3-0.

Amanda Carey led off the sixth for the Rams with a solo home run, her second of the year, to give Fordham a 4-0 lead before the Bonnies scored twice in the top of the seventh. Miller then induced Suhr to pop up with two outs and a runner on second to end the game.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday, March 29, as they host the Drexel University Dragons for a doubleheader on Bahoshy Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
