Softball Defeated Twice on Day Two of Rainbow Wahine Classic

Rams Fall to Iowa State, Hawaii

Honolulu, Hawaii – Fordham softball were defeated in both Friday contests on day two of the Rainbow Wahine Classic. The Rams fell to Iowa State, 3-0, and to Hawaii, 4-2, to fall to 4-12 on the year.

Fordham struggled against the Cyclone's pitching tandem of Saya Swain and Jaiden Ralston, conjuring just three walks against the pair, one apiece from Bailey Enoch, Sydney Wells, and Nicki Sudall, although Enoch was also hit by a pitch. In the circle, sophomore Emilee Watkins got the starting nod and pitched well, allowing just seven baserunners, with no walks, with four strikeouts, but three runs with one run coming in three different innings. Enoch came on in relief in the fifth and struck out three over her 1.2 frames.

In the nightcap against the hosts, the offense struck for two runs through a two-out, two-run Sydney Wells opposite-field double to score Enoch and Julia Martine, but Hawaii held onto their lead with a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Holly Beeman started in the circle and allowed four runs, three earned, with a pair of strikeouts. The Rainbow Wahine used small ball in the first to open the scoring then pushed across three runs on a trio of singles, an error, a bad bounce, and a sac foulout.

Wells, Martine, and McGuire notched Fordham's hits in the contest, while Sarah Taffet and Enoch each walked, the latter also hit by another pitch.

The weekend concludes on Saturday with games against Niagara, at 5:30 p.m. ET, and against Hawaii, at 10 p.m. ET.
