NEWPORT NEWS, VA. (Dec. 4, 2023) – Following an exhilarating week that saw her soar to a new career-high in points Tuesday night, Fordham University women's basketball senior Taylor Donaldson was tabbed as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week Monday afternoon.
In a pair of games, last week Donaldson averaged 28.0 points per game, while shooting an even 50% both from the field and beyond the arc. The Newbury Park, Calif. native would also average six rebounds and 3.5 steals per game, as she began the week with a career-high 35 point showing as the Rams defeated Saint Peter's 80-46. Shooting 12-for-19 in the game with seven three pointers, the performance marked the most points scored by a Fordham player since 2018.
"Taylor is starting to warm up, and her teammates are getting more familiar with her skill set," said Head Coach Bridgette Mitchell. "As a team we are all starting to play better together as well. I'm excited for that growth to continue in our remaining non-conference journey and the start of A10 play!"
Stealing the show in the second half of Tuesday's game, Donaldson drilled 14 of her 35 points in the third quarter alone, and tallied Fordham's final 11 points of the frame. She also finished just one rebound shy of her first double-double as a Ram, with nine and a pair of steals, before grabbing a season-high five steals against Maine Saturday afternoon.
Donaldson and Fordham women's basketball open Atlantic 10 Conference play Tuesday afternoon when they take on Duquesne at 6:00 p.m. in Pittsburg.
