Rams Close 2023 With A-10 Home Opener Saturday

Fordham will take on Saint Joseph’s at 4:00 p.m. to complete a doubleheader at Rose Hill

BRONX, N.Y. - With one final contest before the ball drops in Times Square, Fordham University women's basketball returns from a four-game road trip to host Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon. The Atlantic 10 Conference home opener sees the Rams take on the Hawks in game two of the Tom Konchalski Classic at 4:00 p.m. from the Rose Hill Gym.

Catch the Rams

  • Saturday's game will be broadcast live on both ESPN+ and locally on SNY. 

  • Andrew Bogusch will have the play-by-play call alongside Mike Watts providing color commentary, and Maria Trivelpiece handling the sideline duties.

Fordham Fast Pass

  • Fordham enter play 5-7, last playing Dec. 21 on the road at Virginia, falling 82-56 to the Cavaliers, despite being outscored by just six in the final three quarters.

  • Coming off a four game road trip, the Rams play their first game at the Rose Hill Gym since Dec. 3 against Maine.

  • Despite being just over a month into the campaign, the Rams are playing their 13th of 29 regular season games Saturday, the second A-10 game for Fordham.

  • Despite four teams kicking off conference play Dec. 5, Atlantic 10 play will kick off for the remaining 11 teams in the league Saturday, including Saint Joseph's, with the Rams falling in the league opener by two at Duquesne.

  • The Rams are riding a six-game win streak against Saint Joseph's in the all-time series, with four of those wins coming at Rose Hill.

  • Fordham has won seven of the last 10 meetings dating back to 2017, with the last loss against the Hawks coming during the A-10 tournament in 2016-17.

  • The Rams now sit 21st nationally in steals per game at 11.6 per game, and lead the A-10 in that category as a team.

  • With three players sitting within the top-50 in the country in total steals, Emy Hayford sits second, with Taylor Donaldson and Matilda Flood tied for third most in the conference.

  • Donaldson leads that trio at 2.8 steals per game which leads the A-10, followed by Hayford and Flood who are third and fourth in the league in steals per game.

  • Fordham also sits 45th in turnovers forced per game (19.92), the second best mark in the A-10, and 89th in the country in turnover margin at 3.00.

  • Sitting 75th in the country in blocks per game (4.0) as a team, with Rose Nelson, Maranda Nyborg, and Matilda Flood sitting amongst the top-11 in the conference individually.

  • Leading the A-10 in points per game (18.9) and steals per game (2.80), Taylor Donaldson ranks within the Top-75 Division I players across the nation in eight statistical categories.

  • Returning to the hardwood after a 10-day break for finals, the Rams fell 82-56 to Virginia Dec. 21, despite strong play from the Rams for the majority of the contest. 

  • A lopsided opening ten minutes would prove to be the difference as a resilient Rams team would battle back in the final 30 minutes of the game, being outscored by just six points the rest of the way. 

  • Matilda Flood would help pace the Rams on the offensive front, supplying a career high 14 points including 3-of-6 shooting from long range, while also collecting six rebounds and three steals.
