#18/17 Water Polo Completes Perfect Weekend at JHU

Rams Post 28-12 Win Over Johns Hopkins

Baltimore, Md. – (October 1, 2023) – The nationally ranked Fordham water polo capped off another perfect weekend in MAWPC play on Sunday, defeating the Johns Hopkins Bluejays, 28-12, in Baltimore, Maryland.
 
The win is the 25th consecutive conference win for Fordham, as the Rams improved to 11-3 on the year, 7-0 in the MAWPC.
 
With the score tied at one in the first quarter, Fordham reeled off four straight goals to take charge of the match early at 5-1 and finished the period up 7-3.  Jacopo Parrella and Barnabas Eppel scored twice each in the frame for the Rams, while Luca Silvestri, Paul Armingol, and Lucas Nieto Jasny had the other three markers.
 
Fordham then poured on the offense, scoring seven times in the second quarter, 11 in the third and three in the fourth for the 28-12 win.
 
Parrella had a monster game, netting four goals, seven assists, and two steals, while George Papanikolaou also scored four times to go with two assists.  Christos Loupakis and Christopher Gray each had a hat trick with Gray adding three steals.  Balazs Berenyi, Eppel, Mark Katsev, and Michael Rahner had two goals apiece, with Jagger McMannis, Silvestri, Armingol, Nieto Jasny, Gabriel Guinane, and Reid Thorson had the remaining goals.
 
In net, Riccardo DiGiuseppe had four saves over the first three quarters with Panayiotis Giannas had one in the final quarter of play.
 
The Rams will now have their home opening contest on Wednesday, October 4th, as they host Wagner for a 5:30 PM start at the Messmore Aquatic Center.
