Brooklyn, N.Y. – Fordham volleyball picked up its first sweep of the season, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn on the road, 26-24, 25-23, 25-21. With the win, the Rams improve to 2-1 on the young season.
The first two sets featured several runs by each team with Fordham rallying late to take both, including three straight points to conclude the opening frame and four of the final five to win the second. Fordham withstood a couple late charges in the third but ultimately controlled for the majority of the set to seal the sweep.
Whitley Moody led the offense with 13 kills, adding eight digs, two aces, and a block. The middle duo of
Aria De La Rosa and
Chloe Pejouan were super efficient on the day, combining for 19 kills and just two errors, hitting .563 and .444, respectively. The former had a block and the latter tallied three, two solo. Rounding out the attack were freshmen
Zoe Talabong and
Audrey Brown, who had nine and seven kills, respectively, the former hitting .259 and adding nine digs and two blocks, one solo.
Megan Brzozowski double-doubled with 40 assists and 16 digs, the latter leading the squad, while
Mallory Lipski chipped in 13 digs and four assists.
Fordham next hosts the 19
th Rose Hill Classic this Friday and Saturday. The Rams will kick things off against Fairleigh Dickinson at 11 a.m. on Friday and then play Niagara at 6 p.m., rounding things out at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Penn.
