Newport News, Va. – (August 17, 2022) – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its annual preseason coaches' poll for the upcoming 2022 season on Wednesday with Fordham predicted to finish fourth in the 14-team league.
Reigning Atlantic 10 champion Saint Louis earned recognition as the preseason front-runner entering the 2022 campaign, followed by Rhode Island, VCU, Fordham, and newcomer Loyola Chicago rounding out the top five.
Fordham enters the 2022 season under the direction of head coach
Carlo Acquista, who enters his fourth season at Rose Hill. The Rams have made the conference semifinals in each of his first three seasons, winning the conference championship for the 2020-21 season. Last season, the Rams took Saint Louis to the brink, playing to a scoreless draw in the A-10 Championship semifinals, but falling in penalty kicks to the Billikens.
The Rams, who won their first two preseason exhibitions this year over Fairfield (4-3) and Sacred Heart (3-2), will have their final exhibition on Saturday, August 20
th at Marist at 1:00 PM. Fordham will open the 2022 regular season on Thursday, August 25
th at Hofstra, beginning at 7:00 PM.
