Bronx, N.Y. – (May 15, 2022) – Heading into the weekend, the Fordham Rams knew that in order to keep their Atlantic 10 playoff hopes alive heading into the final weekend, there was only one thing to do: win. That is exactly what they did, as the Rams completed a three-game sweep of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies by a score of 6-2 at Houlihan Park on Sunday.
The Rams now sit in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot with three league games remaining.
Fordham (16-32, 9-12 A-10) opened the scoring in the first inning, though it took a moment to confirm.
C.J. Vazquez reached on a bunt single with one out and moved to second on a ground out.
Andy Semo then connected on a shot to centerfield, that the centerfielder crashed into the wall and the ball disappeared. After a few seconds to confirm, the ball did clear the fence for a two-run home run, Semo's second of the season.
The Rams added a run in the third, which again started with a bunt single, this time by
Ryan Thiesse. After a groundout, Vazquez doubled down the left field line to score Thiesse for a 3-0 lead.

After St. Bonaventure scored a run in the fourth, Fordham scored twice in the fifth to make it a 5-1 game, taking advantage of a pair of Bonnies' errors.

The run support was enough for Fordham starting pitcher
Brooks Ey, who earned his team-leading fourth win of the season. Ey went eight innings, allowing two runs and tying a career-high with nine strikeouts.
Trey Maeker pitched a scoreless ninth inning to finish the game.
At the plate, Semo was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI, while Vazquez was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.
