Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham softball fell, 5-0, to Saint Joseph's to open up this weekend's three-game series on Friday. With the loss, the Rams fall to 18-16 overall and 7-5 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Hawks improve to 15-17 and 10-5, respectively.
Saint Joseph's starting pitcher Emily Siler allowed just four hits and three walks on the day, otherwise stymying the Fordham bats.
Brianna Pinto and
Michaela Carter each reached base safely twice to lead the offense, the former singling twice and stealing twice, her 19
th and 20
th thefts of the campaign, tied for eighth in a single year, while the latter singled and walked. For Pinto, it was her 11
th career multi-steal contest and is now up to 80 career steals.
Devon Miller also notched a single, while
Bailey Enoch and
Allie Clark each drew walks.
Miller suffered the loss, allowing four runs, two earned, over three frames with three strikeouts.
Emilee Watkins was solid in relief, allowing just one run on one hit and three walks over four innings, also striking out three.
The Rams and Hawks will conclude the series with Saturday's doubleheader beginning at noon on ESPN+.
