Bronx, N.Y. – (March 19, 2022) – Marist's Gavin Noriega had a home run and six RBI, while Eurbiel Candelario allowed two earned runs over seven innings to lead the Red Foxes to a 17-7 win over the Fordham Rams at Houlihan Park on Saturday afternoon.
Marist (8-6) jumped out to a 5-0 lead immediately in the first inning, as Gavin Noriega hit a two-run home run, while Robbie Artimage connected on a three-run home run.
After the teams exchanged single runs, the Red Foxes scored five more runs in the third and three in the fourth, bellying their lead to 14-1.
Fordham scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, as
Will Findlay registered an RBI-double, while
Chris Genaro hit a solo home run to left for his first of the season and first of his career.
Marist finished its scoring with two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth inning for their 17-run total.
The Rams netted a run in the eighth and three in the ninth to cap their scoring. The eighth inning saw an RBI-single from
Diego Prieto, while in the ninth inning, Genaro connected on a three-run home run for his first career multi-home run game.
For Fordham, Genaro finished 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI to lead the Rams' offense.
The final game of the three-game series between Fordham and Marist is set for 1:00 PM on Sunday.
