Washington, D.C. – The 2021-2022 Fordham University men's can take solace with a quote from author and therapist Shannon L. Alder who said "All things come to an end, but when you open your eyes after a long sleep a new journey begins." The Rams deserve a long sleep after the season they enjoyed, and with the talent coming back, the future looks bright. Unfortunately, eighth-seeded Fordham ran into a hot top-seeded Davidson College, falling to the Wildcats, 74-56, in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Capital One Arena.
With the loss, Fordham evens its record at 16-16 while Davidson improves to 26-5.
The Rams were led by junior forward
Rostyslav Novitskyi, who scored a career and game-high 18 points, shooting 7-for-12 from the field, and he added five rebounds and three blocks while grad student forward
Chuba Ohams came up just short of his 22nd double-double of the year, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Rams trailed by six, 27-21, following an Ohams hook shot with 5:26 left in the first half but the Fordham offense then went cold as Davidson scored nine straight to take a 36-21 lead with 2:51 remaining and the Wildcats would bump the lead to 16 at the break, 40-24.
Fordham cut the Davidson lead to 13 early on the second half, 44-31, on a
Kyle Rose three but that was as close as they would get.
