St. Bonaventure, N.Y. - American Trappist monk, writer, and theologian, Thomas Merton once said, "I had discovered a place where I was to find out something about Happiness," when speaking of his time spent in Olean, New York. Unfortunately, the Fordham men's basketball team didn't have that same experience tonight at St. Bonaventure, falling to the Bonnies, 76-51, in an Atlantic 10 game in the Reilly Center.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 10-12 overall, 3-7 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure, the preseason Atlantic 10 favorite, improves to 13-7 overall, 5-4 in the conference.
Sophomore guard
Antrell Charlton led the Rams with 14 points, and he added six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while graduate student guard
Darius Quisenberry finished with nine points before leaving the game in the second half with an injury. Grad student forward
Chuba Ohams added six points and eleven rebounds for the Rams.
The Rams trailed by five at the break, 34-29, but St. Bonaventure opened the second half scoring eleven unanswered points to take a 43-29 lead 3:18 into the half.
A
Kyle Rose three at the 14:47 mark cut the Bonnies' lead to 13, 47-34, and the Rams trailed again by 13 two minutes later following a Quisenberry basket but that was as close as the Rams would get.
The Rams got off to a slow start offensively, trailing the Bonnies 14-7 seven minutes onto the game.
Later in the half, St. Bonaventure took it biggest lead of the half, 23-13, with 7:05 left but an 11-6 Fordham spurt cut the deficit to five, 29-24, on an
