Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Ends Homestand with Win over La Salle

Chuba Ohams notches 16th double-double of season

Bronx, N.Y. – The powers that be at the Jesuit university in the Bronx may well be asking to change the spelling of the school name to ForDham after witnessing the last two men's basketball games. For the second straight game, the stingy Ram defense held their opponent to under 55 points as Fordham defeated La Salle, 60-54, in an Atlantic 10 game in the Rose Hill Gym.

With the win, Fordham evens its record at 13-13, 6-8 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle falls to 7-18 overall, 2-13 in the conference.

The Rams were led by grad student forward Chuba Ohams who recorded his fourth straight double-double, and his 16th of the season, with a career-high 20 points and 13 rebounds, while grad student guard Josh Colon-Navarro added 15 points and sophomore guard Kyle Rose finished with ten points and five rebounds.

The Rams dominated the first half, taking a 27-16 lead at the break but the Explorers chipped away at the Fordham lead in the second half, eventually getting it down to one, 36-35, with 10:58 left.

The Fordham lead was three, 45-42, with 4:45 remaining when an Abdou Tsimbila put back started a 7-0 Fordham run as the Rams took a 52-42 lead on an Ohams three with 3:10 left. The closest La Salle would get from that point would be six, which happened four times, the final on an Explorer basket at the buzzer.
