Kingston, R.I. – Fordham women's basketball suffered a 58-43 defeat at Rhode Island on Sunday afternoon, snapping a three-game win streak. With the loss, the Rams fall to 16-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play, while Rhody improves to 20-3 and 10-0, respectively.
The visitors struggled with their shot throughout the contest, finishing with 28.8% shooting overall and 5-of-25 from distance. Rhode Island committed more turnovers, 16 to 13, leading to 14 points for Fordham, but Rhody won the battle of the boards, 40-31, although the Bronx Rams had more offensive boards, 11-9.
Anna DeWolfe and
Asiah Dingle each tallied 10 points to lead the offense, the former notching a season-high six assists plus a steal over 38 minutes and the latter adding two rebounds, two dimes, and two steals over 36 minutes off the bench.
Megan Jonassen scored all eight of her points in the first half, adding seven rebounds and a steal across 30 minutes, while
Kendell Heremaia contributed across the board with five points, four boards, three assists, two steals, and a block over 25 minutes.
Kaitlyn Downey and
Millie Prior each produced four points and
Matilda Flood also notched a pair of steals to go with three rebounds in 16 minutes.
Fordham is back in action on Wednesday night at Massachusetts. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+ and WFUV.
