Swimming & Diving Splits Meet with Georgetown

Fordham Women Post 196-104 Win over Hoyas; Men Fall to Georgetown, 159-131

Bronx, N.Y. – (November 5, 2022) – The Fordham swimming & diving team was back in action on Saturday afternoon, as the Rams hosted the Georgetown Hoyas at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
 
The Fordham women kept their unbeaten season intact with a 196-104 win over Georgetown, while the men dropped their first meet of the season by a 159-131 score.
 
For the women, the Rams won 13 events on the day, led by Leire Martin, who won both the 100 (57.33) and 200 (2:03.17) backstroke events, while leading off the winning 200 medley relay (1:44.58) with Emma Shaughnessy, Jessica Zebrowski, and Zoei Howard.
 
Zebrowski was also a multi-event winner, taking the 100 (56.27) and 200 (2:04.59) butterfly events, while also being a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay with Howard, Megan Morris, and Alison Lin.
 
Lin, Howard and Shaughnessy each won an individual event on top of their relay wins.  Howard took first in the 100 freestyle in 53.19 seconds, while Shaughnessy was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.50.  Lin was then first in the 200 freestyle event in 1:54.31.
 
The day of winners finished up with Ainhoa Martin and Millie Haffety, as Martin won the 200 breaststroke (2:16.77) and 200 individual medley (2:04.60) with Haffety sweeping the diving events with score of 273.68 (1M) and 311.25 (3M).
 
On the men's side, Fordham captured first in seven events, led by the duo of Christian Taylor and Paris Raptis.
 
Taylor won the 100 (49.32) and 200 (1:51.55) backstroke events, while Raptis took first in the 100 (48.97) and 200 (1:49.67) butterfly.  Both swimmers were also a part of the winning 200 medley relay with Vitalis Onu and Alexander Shah, who took the top spot in 1:31.21.
 
Taylor also joined Shah, Noah Althoff, and Onu to win the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:03.97.
 
The Rams' final event winner on Saturday was Alex Wilhelm, who placed first in the 100 freestyle in 46.95 seconds.
 
Fordham will next be in the pool, November 18-20, when they take part in the Bucknell Invitational.RamsesChallengeSW3
