Volleyball Downed in Four Sets at Duquesne Friday

Rams Move to 9-14 Overall, 3-9 in League Play; Play in Final Road Contest of 2022 Tomorrow

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Fordham volleyball fell in four sets, 24-26, 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, at Duquesne in its penultimate road contest of the regular season on Saturday. With the loss, the Rams fall to 9-14 overall and 3-9 in league play.

Fordham and Duquesne traded the lead with several small runs throughout the opening frame. The Rams took a 20-18 lead and overcame a 21-20 deficit to lead 23-22 and tie the set up at 24-all, but the Dukes notched a pair of kills to take the set. Fordham chipped away steadily in the second set and finished with a flourish, turning a 17-13 deficit into a 25-22 victory with a 12-5 run to end the frame. Audrey Brown was immense in the set, adding nine kills to have 14 entering the third set.

The Rams overcame two four-point deficits in the third set but eventually 11 errors in attack and three on serves gifted the hosts the frame. After hitting under .200 the past two sets, the Dukes finished efficiently by hitting .317 in the fourth while controlling throughout.

Brown finished with a match-high 19 kills, hitting .317, with Whitley Moody, 14, and Aria De La Rosa, 11, all in double figures, as well, just ahead of Zoe Talabong's nine. De La Rosa hit .333 and notched a trio of blocks to tie Chloe Pejouan for the team lead, who posted two solo blocks to move into a share of 10th all-time in program history with Lori Burns ('94) with 37.

Megan Brzozowski posted a 46-assist, 17-dig double-double, while Mallory Lipski racked up 23 digs and eight assists. Moody added 14 digs for her own double-double with Talabong notching 13. Both Aneliesa Cartledge and Ryan Naumann served up a pair of aces.
