Bronx, N.Y. – (October 22, 2022) – Behind 15 saves from
Thomas Lercari and hat tricks from
Luca Silvestri and
Balazs Berenyi, the 17
th-ranked Fordham Rams topped the Navy Midshipmen, 14-7, at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center on Saturday.
For Fordham, it was the Rams' ninth straight win, improving to 17-6 overall, 11-0 in MAWPC play.
After each team netted three goals in the opening quarter, the Rams took charge in the second, scoring five times for an 8-5 lead. Of those five goals, two came with the man-advantage as
Christos Loupakis and
Michael Rahner scored extra-man goals.
The teams played even in the third with two goals each, but the Rams put the game away with a four-goal fourth quarter for the 14-7 final.
For the Rams,
Luca Silvestri and
Balazs Berenyi each scored three times with
George Papanikolaou having two goals and two assists.
Jacopo Parrella added a goal, three assists, and three steals. In net,
Thomas Lercari posted 15 saves and an assist.
Th Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Saturday, October 29
th, as the Rams host Bucknell at 1:00 PM and Mt. St. Mary's at 5:00 PM.
