Lipski Breaks Three-Set School Record in Loss at Loyola Chicago

Senior Libero Bests Previous Record of 22 Digs by Three

Chicago, Ill. – Fordham volleyball fell in three sets at Loyola Chicago on Saturday, 19-25, 20-25, 23-25, although senior libero Mallory Lipski set a new school three-set record with 25 digs. With the loss, the Rams fall to 6-9 overall and 0-4 in league play through two weekends.

Fordham battled throughout, getting close late in the first two sets, and held a brief lead late in the  third set, but the Ramblers were able to push through to secure the win.

Whitley Moody led the way with nine kills, adding 10 digs and a block, while Audrey Brown added eight efficient kills (.333) and two digs, and Zoe Talabong chipped in seven kills, nine digs, a block, and an ace. Both Lauren Arzuaga and Aria De La Rosa posted four kills, the former blocking three attacks, the latter two, one solo. Mackenzie Colvin and Megan Brzozowski shared setting duties, with 15 and 13, respectively, and combined for 11 digs, with Colvin adding an ace.

Lipski finished with 25 digs, plus six assists and an ace, to set the new three-set program record. Previously, Stephanie Frost had held it with 22 in 2006 before Morgan Williams matched it once a year between 2017-19. The Louisville native is second all-time with 3.68 digs per set, behind only Williams, and is currently sixth with 1,083 career digs.

Fordham remains on the road to play at Rhode Island on Wednesday, October 5th at 5 p.m.
