Stony Brook, N.Y. – It doesn't matter! That was the sound coming from the Fordham football locker room tonight following the Rams' 31-14 win over Stony Brook University at LaValle Stadium. The cry was in response to the fact that the start of the game was delayed due to a bus breakdown but head coach
Joe Conlin and the Rams refused to let it matter.
Â
With the win, Fordham goes to 1-3 on the season while Stony falls to 1-3.
Â
Senior quarterback
Tim DeMorat led the Fordham offense, completing 21 of 33 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns with two of those scores going to junior receiver
Dequece Carter.
Â
Defensively, senior linebacker
Ryan Greenhagen had his fourth straight double-digit tackle game, making 16 stops, including 2.0 for loss, one sack, and he intercepted a pass.
Â
The Rams got on the board early as Stony Brook fumbled the opening kickoff and it was recovered by Fordham's
Alfonzo Dixon IV on the Seawolves' 28. Five plays later, DeMorat found Carter in the corner of the end zone for a 7-0 Fordham lead 1:11 into the game.
Â
After Stony Brook tied the game on the ensuing possession, the rams took the lead for good when DeMorat found
Fotis Kokosioulis with a four-yard scoring strike midway through the second.
Â
Fordham increased the lead to 21-7 when the Rams took the second half kickoff and drove 75 yards with DeMorat hooking up with
Hamze El-Zayat on an 18-yard scoring pass two minutes into the second half.
Â
