Lawrenceville, N.J. – (September 22, 2021) – In a wild back and forth affair, Rider's Taner Bay scored in the 81
st minute to break a three-all tie, as the Broncs outlasted the Fordham Rams, 4-3, at Ben Cohen Field on Wednesday night.
It did not take long for the opening goal of the game, as it happened in the first minute. Zaki Alibou laid a pass back to Adel Al-Masude for a shot from 25 yards, that evaded the hands of Fordham goalkeeper
Nick Buchholz for the opening goal.
That shot as well as a shot by
Galen Flynn later in the half were the only two shots of the first half, but the offense picked up in the second half, starting in the 50
th minute.
Matt Sloan was sent off on a breakaway into the box and was taken down with a foul. Sloan was awarded a penalty kick and converted it to tie the game with his second goal of the season.
Rider answered in the 54
th minute as play went down toward the Rider bench and the ball was crossed in off the head of Alibou to Al-Masude, who headed in his second goal of the game.
Just three minutes later, the Rams knotted the game at two.
Matt Ranieri collected a loose ball in the box and slid a cross to
Max Rogers in the center of the box for the shot to the bottom right of the goal, his first of the season.

The Broncs responded quickly once again in the 61
st minute, as Alibou made a cross from the far side corner to a sliding Tyrrell Moore, who deflected the ball home for a 3-2 edge.
Fordham once again rallied back, scoring in the 80
th minute, starting with
Alberto Pangrazzi taking the ball away, and finding
Paul Makaj in the center of the offensive zone. Makaj quickly slid the ball right to an oncoming
Galen Flynn for the shot, who beat the keeper to the lower left corner for his first goal of the year.
However, Rider again had the immediate answer, re-taking the lead, 4-3, in the 81
st minute. Sergio Aguinaga crossed the ball from near the corner flag to the back post for Moore. Moore headed the ball down to Taner Bay, who knocked the ball in from right in front.
The Rams had three shots at goal in the final minutes, but none found the back of the net, giving Rider the wild victory.
In net, Rider's Guillaume Veinante had two saves, while Buchholz finished with four for Fordham.
The Rams return to Atlantic 10 play on Saturday, September 25
th, when the squad hosts George Washington, starting at 3:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.
