Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University football program has seen many changes over the past 23 years but one thing has remained the same. When a football student-athlete ventured over to the Academic Advising office they were greeted by Sr. Anne Walsh, RHSM, and their lives would never be the same. Fordham Athletics will honor Walsh on Thursday, October 7, by presenting her with the Victory Bell Award at the Hall of Fame Ceremony under the Homecoming tent on Edwards Parade.

The Victory Bell Award honors individuals who have brought distinction and honor to Fordham University Athletics through achievements not related to competition, coaching and/or administration. The honoree, selected by the Fordham Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, embodies a sense of leadership and passion for Fordham Athletics and serves as an inspiration to the Fordham Athletics Family.

Sister Anne, as she is commonly known, has served as the football academic advisor since 1998, keeping everyone in check, from 180-pound running backs to 300-pound linemen. Walsh joined the academic advising office when she decided to look for new challenges in addition to her duties at campus ministry, asking to work with Fordham student-athletes. Over the past 20-plus years, Walsh has become a valued member of Fordham's athletic academic advising staff, helping nurture young student-athlete's minds.

At the 2009 Gridiron Dinner Walsh received the Mara Family Award for her dedication to the football program. She also received the Jack Coffey Award at the 2009 Block F Dinner and was presented with an Honorary Letter at the 2004 Block F Dinner.
